A new year arrives, resolutions for the nation,
Fewer calories, less drinking and smoking cessation.
Some keep fit, tai-chi or Zumba for the masses,
Wearing triple XL jeggings to line dancing classes.
A patch on your arm will lead to less cravings,
Not to mention, thousands of pounds in real savings.
And with your body mass index now spiralling south,
You should pull your balaclava down over your mouth.
February arrives and it's time to assess,
More eating, less sober, still smoking you confess.
A recap of what you promised at the Bells,
No change, and still wearing those triple XLs.
In short, these were pledges never to be met,
Peer pressured, drink related, or to wager a bet.
Your new year's ambitions were pie in the sky,
Which you've eaten, perpetuating the January lie.
